Do You Remember Tri-chem?

I have fond memories of Tri-chem. My mom's friend, Vi, sold the product much like selling Tupperware. There were lots of Tri-chem parties at our house growing up. When I googled Tri-chem I was surprised to find it still sells today.



My mom saved these blocks I painted many years ago. I think I must have been about 10 years old, which puts the years in the early 70's. (I know I just dated myself!) I love these little blue kitties! We embroidered everything until Tri-chem came along and then we painted everything. I found this blue kittie fabric to use as sashing between the blocks. It was the perfect fabric! I hand quilted each block. My kitties are now complete!


Here are a few pressies just for leaving a comment on a blog! This blogging thing is soooo much fun! This one came from Luann at Bare Foot Quilter in the Garden. (I can't find her...her blog disappeared from my bloglines.) It is a darling sewing roll!



See the candle on the right? It smells yummy! It has a light in the center so I get the look of a candle and the smell of a candle without the smoke of a real candle. Thank you to my new blogging friends over at Prim Friends Network. You should check them out cause they have giveaways often!

Happy Birthday! Merry Christmas!

This week was my son's birthday! I officially have an adult child. I have very mixed emotions on the subject. Part of me wipes my brow and thinks, "Phew, I made it!" (Well, at least this far....) And then the other part of me says, "What happened to my baby?" I'm not old enough to have an adult child... I'm only 29 ya know!! Right now he is in Tennessee serving a mission for our church. Happy Birthday Son!



Here is a collage of pictures of my cutie patootie! When he graduated from High School he joined the Volunteer Fire Department in our community and he also went to school to become an EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician-Basic). But when he turned 19 he decided to go on a mission. What a great decision! I am ultra proud of him!



Now on to Merry Christmas...I put the final touches on my Sister's Christmas present. I am showing it now cause she is getting it on Thanksgiving. My sister still uses a sheet under her tree every year, so I thought it was about time for her to have a 'real' tree skirt! She will get her gift early thus she will be able to use it this year. I am pleased on how it turned out. I used Thimbleberries Star Swirl Tree Skirt pattern and fabrics.





Now after Thanksgiving I can tell my sister I have a blog..

I'm In a Bind!

I was in a binding mood this week. Not because I enjoy binding quilts, it was because I had time to do it. My mom recently got out of a nine day ICU stay at the hospital and between the two hour long driving trips to visit her and now 'grandma-sitting' for my dad, I bound a few quilts.



This one I made at Relief Society. A group of us quilters decided to teach some of the women in our ward how to quilt. This is the row quilt we started with! Can you believe it? Do you think we could have picked an easier pattern? But I have to say...I think each one of the women can pick out any pattern and 'go for it'! I used a lot of scraps from my stash. What a nice feeling to use stash fabrics without purchasing more. (See my sweet Annie? She loves quilts too!)


This quilt was a BOM from Mormon Handicraft in St. George, Utah. My daughter wants it really bad! We'll see...after all Christmas is coming!

Hoppin' & Shoppin'

Oh, what fun I had! The annual Las Vegas, Nevada Quilt Shop Hop was this weekend. Sherri, Gail (no blog) and I hopped to all the quilt shops and did some shoppin'. Each quilt shop gave out a delicious pattern and fun little prizes if you made a purchase. This year we only had 5 shops to hop to but that was ok by me cause that meant more time to shop and more time to eat lunch!


We saved the best for last on our hop! The Goose went all out with The Wizard of Oz theme. The great Oz spoke and we (scarecrow, cowardly lion and tin man) met Dorothy at the door and followed her down the yellow brick road to the Emerald City. Oh boy, oh boy...what a treat we had in store! The Great Wizard had many of her new quilt patterns and samples to show us! What a surprise!

Doesn't Dorothy look cute in her blue gingham apron?!



Here are a few things I purchased. I have plans for it all! Hopefully, in future posts you will see some of these fabrics.
