So here is my first attempt at quilting!! I attempted a stipple pattern which I think I should call mine... crooked pattern. You can not see it very well in my pictures...be grateful!! My lines are not very smooth yet. Using the regulator the sewing goes quite fast. It seemed the faster I sewed the smoother the stitches were, but the faster I sewed I could not keep up with the smoothness of moving the fabrics under the needle. It probably makes no sense but I tried to explain it the best I can.

If you read Stephanie's blog, you probably saw she made cute house ornaments from the Sew Simple magazine. I found my magazine (thanks for the hint Stephanie)and made a few myself. I used some of the Christmas fabrics I got on sale last week. I think they are absolutely delightful!! I want to make more...no quilting required!
Piece & love,
Dawn

It is so good to see all your amazing craftiness! I sure miss you! I was so sorry to hear about your mom-- I remember cleaning her house when I was young. She was such a wonderful and kind lady. You are like her in that way. Know that I am thinking of you and your family.
Cute houses! :o) I love the valentine's fabrics. I guess even with a stitch regulator it takes practice, although it looks good to me. I have not tried free motion on my new Janome yet.
Your quilt looks great, can the stitch regulator attach to any machine?
Oh Dawn---your post gave me a giggle! you be sure to contact the patent office to take ownership of that quilting-stitch name!
I also have a stitch-regulator, and yes, it does take practice. Also---you described the "catch-22" perfectly! To keep control, you want to slow down, BUT the stitches don't turn out as nicely as they would if you were quilting quicker. *nod* Understand it completely. Keep practicing----it'll get easier :0)
Pretty good job on your stippling. Your little quilt is cute and so are the houses.
Those houses are so cute!!! And I love that everyday table topper...I've made a few...but I absolutely love it in Valentine's colors!
I have no idea what a stitch regulator is, but your stitching looks good! I have only once tried free machine quilting and managed to ruin a perfectly good preemie quilt by doing so. I think I should practise on something less valuable.
I'm a little confused. Does the regulator just fit on your bernina? Or did you get a new machine? I know they made stitch regulator attachments for later models but not mine - yet. I wish they would. I think the trick is to press the pedal fast and move the fabric slow, does that make sense? The faster the needle goes up and down the better it quilts.
I thing the topper looks great-and the houses are adorable!
Your table topper turned out beautiful and those houses are way cute!
Aloha!
I think your quilting looks great -- especially for a first time. I know exactly what you mean with the speed thing. I'm sure you've heard it a million times...practice, practice, practice. In no time at all you'll surprise yourself! I'm so jealous that you got to go to MH in St. George -- my beloved auntie lives there in the winter and I really want to come and visit. Oh, and I'm so sorry about your mother. ;-(
Cute houses Dawn, I was wondering about the pattern for the houses.
I love to do free motion quilting.
Keep Stitchen' and I'm glad I found your blog,
Bonnie
Hi Dawn,
Thanks so much for commenting on my blog. I love the candy kisses fabric and your stitching looks great. I read further into your posts and I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. My mom passed away in June '07. As time passes, it does get a little easier.

Love those fabrics and your table topper looks great.
I have the book although have yet to make anything from it.
I admired your Crossings table runners further down - love them both.
I think it's time for me to make something from the book. Thanks for the inspiration.
Super cute from the fabric to the little houses. I would expect nothing less.
