Bad Apple

Mr. P&L and Dancer went on their annual hike over the Memorial Day weekend. (They hike...I sew!) They hiked Trail Canyon which is a moderate hike in the Mt. Charleston area with a view of a 3000-year old bristle cone pine, the oldest living thing in southern Nevada. The tree has been named "Raintree".

Quality father daughter time!!

Dancer stopped to smell the flowers along the way. The mountains in Southern Nevada are in bloom!!

Aren't they gorgeous!?!

Warning!! The next photo is not gorgeous and may gross you out!! It did me!!

This is what happens to an apple left in a backpack from last year! Yes, Dancer missed a little somethin' in her backpack. She reached in to grab her lunch and felt something squishy! She pulled it out and "Ohhhhh....Ickkkkkk"!!!

Oh, and by the way, it was a green apple!!

This is what I made with the honey bun fabrics Rachel sent me. I like it!! I am putting my loose papers (and coupons I never use) in it. Maybe this way I won't find anything squishy in my purse!!
Edit: The pattern is from Kim Walus of bitty bits & pieces for Moda Bake Shop. Credit needs to go where credit is due!! Thanks Kim and Moda Bake Shop!!

This is what happens when I leave my stitchery unattended!!

I also won a place mat kit from Rae Ann over at Rae Ann's Stitchin' Niche. I'm always on the look out for a new technique or idea. This technique uses freezer paper on fabric you run through your ink printer to make hexagons. I'm anxious to give it a try!!
Thanks Rae Ann!!

Oh, Baby!

I actually took some time out to sew!! Yipee for me! I am in full speed ahead with Girl's Camp! Yes, I am the camp director. I am in charge of taking 31 girls (ages 12 -18) up in the mountain with tents and bugs and dirt in my food and hiking and singing "Koom Bah Yah" with smoke in my lungs! I don't know what they (my Church leaders) were thinking...my idea of camping is a bad motel. My only saving grace is the girls and my daughter will be there too!

I do have a fantastic assistant...Lauren. Lauren has the cutest kids! She blogs and quilts too! I think Lauren likes to camp. Can I nominate her for camp director next year?

To take a break from thinking about Girl's Camp I decided to do some sewing. I made a diaper bag filled with fun things for my cousin. I posted about her baby here. Baby is doing well...growing and getting stronger. She now weighs 2 lbs. 13 ozs.

So here is the diaper bag! I love the button! It's that blue flower thing.

I made her a diaper clutch. I figured this would be great to have during Church when she has to make a quick get-away! It's just the right size for one diaper and the compact size of wipes. Although Stefanie could fit 5 of her baby's diapers in it!! Her baby's diaper look like a sanitary napkin with tape! Sorry, is that too much information?

Here is the open view.

I made burp cloths too!

I had enough fabric to make a little changing pad.

Two more weeks till Girl's Camp! I hope I get to sew a little more before I go...I hope you get to sew too!

The Postman Rang Twice

I never saw the movie, but it's fun to say "The Postman Always Rings Twice"!

Rachel over at p.s. i quilt was featured on Moda Bake Shop by making a darling frame and pencil holder. To celebrate she had a little giveaway...and guess what??? I was the winner!!

This is what I won!! Thanks Rachel!! Rachel has a great blog and makes me laugh with each post.

I keep forgetting to show my Japanese books I ordered after visiting with Nanette and viewing all her delicious Japanese books she brought when we visited with Nedra. Of course they are written in Japanese and I can't read one word, but hey, who cares.... I like to look at pictures!!

After my Pink Ladies Stitchery class I picked up these beauties! I can read these but I still like to look at the pictures too!!

I also bought some fabric. Can you go into a fabric shop without buying fabric??? I think not! I will be working with these next week...so stay tuned.

I had two more wedding invites last week. Filled a basket with washcloths and dishtowels I made using Nanette's ideas. What would I do without her? People would get boring gifts that's for sure!! I forgot to take a picture of the everything in the basket. I added some dish soap and scrubbies. It was cute...sorry you missed it!
