Time For Tea

I was invited to participate in Stephanie's Time For Tea Swap. I had a grand time too! Stephanie was the perfect host. Every Tuesday she would post tea time treats especially for you and me. She posted fantastic pictures of the most unique teapots from a teapot exhibit, tea related ideas and sneak peeks. Can you imagine a teapot exhibit? I was so happy to attend thanks to Stephanie!

Now it's time for me to talk about tea (even though it's Wednesday)! I'm not a tea drinker, but I do love tea sets and teapots. I want to show you a few of my tea sets!

This is all that is left of my tea set from when I was a little girl! I remember having many "chocolate milk" parties with this set. I am sad this is all that is left. It is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. On the back side it is stamped "Marx Toys, made in Japan, Walt Disney productions".

The top tea set came from "China Town" in California. When I was about 10 years old we took a trip to the LA area and my mom really wanted to go to "China Town". I spotted this tea set and I wanted it really bad, but my mom said if I wanted it I had to buy it myself. If I purchased the tea set all my money would be gone, so I decided to pass. My mom bought it and said it was hers! What??? I was soooo MAD!! Her favorite color was pink and mine was blue and she bought the blue tea set! I thought maybe she was buying it for me!! I waited till after vacation....no tea set! I waited for my Birthday....no tea set! Christmas....no tea set! Years later...like after I was married with kids...she brought me this box. Inside the box was my blue tea set! My mom forgot all about it! She intended to give it to me for my birthday, but she put it away never to think about it again!! We had a good laugh! I love this blue tea set! Oh, and the teapot is musical!

The bottom picture is my mom's tea set from when she was a little girl. It is a complete set. I don't think she ever had chocolate milk parties because not one piece is broken. It is stamped "Homer Laughlin, Eggshell, Made in the USA". My mom gave this tea set to my daughter a few years ago for Christmas. My daughter wasn't impressed but she will be when she gets older.

Now for the swap!!

Isn't this the cutest tea bag holder!?! Stephanie made each of the participants one! Thanks Stephanie, you're the hostest of the mostest!!

Now are you ready to see what my swap partner sent me???...

Ulla from kotkarankki was my swap partner! These lovely gifts came all the way from Finland! Ulla sent me the sweetest letter and here is what she sent especially for me!! Isn't the table runner the cutest? On the coffee mugs is stitching of steam. She also made me a wall hanging with my blog name. She said the calico is tea dyed! Ulla's stitching is beautiful! I love it and it is hanging in my sewing area. The third item is a Tea Tree Oil hand wash...that goes in my purse! Thank you Ulla, I love everything you sent!

Now for posterity sake...here is what I sent to Ulla! I hope she liked what she received!

Piece & love,
Dawn

I love the story you shared behind the teapots. The second one is my favorite too.
I read Ulla's post to see the wonderful things you sent her. She really did a nice job on the things you received too! What a fun swap.

You have some lovely tea sets! I have already used the set you sent me, for I have just received two dolls.
I was desperately trying to find some tea related things for a non-tea-drinker, so I used tea to dye the calico. I'm glad if you liked it.

Love your swap gifts from Ulla. How clever; tea dyed calico and tea tree hand lotion. Sweet and thoughtful gifts.

A musical teapot? How fun. Thank you for sharing your lovely tea sets.

Your blog is interesting. I have a blue willow tea set, or what is left of it anyway, that I have given my daughter who expressed an interest in them at one time. I keep looking in antique shops for pieces of this set that I could ad to her collection, but so far have not found any.

Your All Dressed UP quilt is just marvelous, and I can see where it would be fun embellishing the dresses. Oh noooooo, I said no more new project....but I want to make one of these. Wouldn't this be a fun swap block?

The bag to tote to meetings is a great idea. I had made something similar, but didn't think of putting the fabric on it so I could use it to iron on - what a great idea.
