During the summer when I was seven, mom thought it was time for me to learn how to embroider. (Now we call it stitchery.) We would go to "town" (St. George) and purchase whatever items we needed....and a few we didn't!!
Here is my very first embroidered project! I vividly remember my mom pencil drawing this flower on the bib she bought in town. Not bad for my first attempt! I saved it for my daughter to use and that dream came true. In fact, Dancer asked me when I pulled it out of my cedar chest why it was stained and yellowed? I replied, "Because you spit-up... a lot"!!
Here is what I worked on this week!! I wanted a new (Nanette) bag because I was wearing out the one I made from the kit I purchased from her. I love the style and size of this bag. Don't you love the fabric? I'm loving orange lately!! And I do have another bag in the making...a girl can't have too many bags ya know!!
Piece & love,
Dawn

Love the first stitchery and the story that went with it. I'm drawn to orange these days too. The Nanette bag is great, covered button and all.
love the bag!
It does look like a great size .
love the orange ;)
and the bib is adorable.
How sweet your let Dancer burp on your beautiful handmade bib! Love the fabric for your new bag.
That is so cool that you have that still and you used it with your daughter. Such memories. Lovely bag.
A wonderful memory. Sounds like you had a wonderful childhood as well.
That's great that you have that "first stitchery"! Wouldn't it be fun to put it in a shadow box to hang on the wall for your first grandchild? Love your new bag, too!
What a cute first stitchery and love yoru bag.
Hi Dawn!

So incredibly cute Dawn. Both the bib and the bag. The bag is rich looking. I love the fabric. Tell your daughter that stain fighting products equal to the baby spit up have not been on the market that long.
How wonderful! Beautiful memories, beautiful first stitchery! What I would give to have/see the first thing I ever stitched (which was so long ago... I can't even remember what it was!).
You were making wonderful memories and now your daughter can pass it on. Love the new bag!
Hugs,
Cathie
Hi Dawn, your little bib is something to treasure for years to come. Mom taught me to stitch on pillowcases and she sat with my kids, even my son. He did a baseball one. Special times.
Your bag is so cute, and the tacks in the post below, I've got to try. Would go great on the other half of my board.

Love the new bag! I used that same fabric to make a bag from Nanette's pattern too! And a camera case. Great minds think alike. And have good taste.
Dawn, I love your bag. Thanks for your nice comment on my blog. Hope to look over your blog when I get more time....
