Independence Day

First off, I want to give a shout out the men and women who are currently serving in our military! I also want to thank my grandfather who served during World War 2 and my own father who fought during the Korean War. You all are my hero!!

So here is what we did to celebrate the 4th of July! Some time during the course of the day we watch this:

It's tradition!! "It ain't over till the fat lady sings"!

My sister and her family came out to help us celebrate our Independence Day!! Dad provided the meat and my sister and I dived up the rest. Oh, and how we can eat!!

When it got dark we headed up to the fair grounds to watch the fireworks. Before the show began the committee gave a small ceremony to give recognition to individuals or groups in our community. This year the volunteer fire stations (we have three) received the "Service Spotlight Award".

There's Mr. P&L on the far right!! My son's name was also read, but he is far far away serving a mission for our church.

Here we are waiting and trying to cool off with snow-cones! It was a sizzling hot day!

The fam!

More fam!

In case you didn't know what day it is!!

Time for dessert!! A while ago Des over at Quilt Taffy made a potluck dessert that I really wanted to try. You can read about it here. Well, I got this idea to twist things up a bit. You know...something a little red, white and blue!!

I substituted chocolate cake with white cake. Chocolate pudding to white chocolate pudding. (I used 2 small instead of one large box of pudding, in case you were wondering!) And instead of heath bars I used strawberries and blueberries.

YUMMO!!! Yea, it's all gone!

Thanks for stopping by to see how we celebrated our Independence Day!

Piece & love,
Dawn
